people's data exposed
a single stolen credential = full access
+ employee data taken
SecurityWeek reports that Meta is notifying about 1,500 people — most of them US employees — that their personal information was impacted after an outside group accessed some of the company's private GitHub repositories using an employee's stolen credentials. The intrusion was detected a few weeks ago; the attackers took source code and employee information.
Meta says the personal data had been stored in those repositories against company policy, and that much of it was synthetic or anonymized test data. The company shut the access down, brought in GitHub and law enforcement, rotated exposed secrets, and offered affected people credit monitoring.
Meta runs one of the largest security budgets on earth. It still fell to the oldest attack there is: one employee's password. That's the whole point — when source code and people's data sit in one central place, the entire pile is only ever one stolen credential away from walking out the door. The fix isn't a taller wall; it's not building the pile.
A single stolen employee login opened private repos full of source code.
Personal data sat in GitHub against Meta's own policy — the breach found it anyway.
A central store of everything is one prize worth stealing. On-device isn't.
People who run infrastructure live by one rule: you can't leak what you never gathered in one place. Centralizing data — even behind the best security money can buy — only makes a single target worth the effort. The safest architecture is the one with nothing at the center to take.
Aura keeps no repository of your life.
Aura runs entirely on the device in your room — no central server, no cloud account, no repository of your conversations for a stolen credential to open. There's no pile at the center because there is no center. Custom AI hardware + Continuum OS, the first AI OS. Nothing leaves the room.
